A few days ago, I was replying some comments on my MLM blog when I came across a great question from Marti. She asked:

“I have only been involved in internet marketing for the past two months. How do I create value when I haven’t built a downline yet. I don’t think my friends and family would be interested. – Regards Marti”

I can really relate to this question. When I first started out in network marketing, I didn’t want to have to bug my friends and family. So I opted to work in what we call the “cold market” in MLM.

I spent huge amounts of time and money purchasing and contacting leads. Fast forward four months later? All I had to show for it was one person in my downline, and a large dent in my bank account.

The great J. Paul Getty once said, “To succeed in a business, to reach the top, an individual must know all it is possible to know about that business.”

Just think of what Mr. Getty could have done with the network marketing and the internet!

In network marketing the business is Leverage. Leverage gives you the power in this business whereby, you don’t have to “know it all” to reach the top. In fact, success in our business comes from using what other people know to accomplish your goals. Leverage is POWER!

By harnessing and using the power of leverage, even the smallest efforts can achieve amazing results.

Dollars follow value, pure and simple. Flower it up any way you like. The bottom line to success is you must show your propective associates or customers value for what they are purchasing. If you can do that effectively, you will have success beyond your wildest dreams.

Typically people don’t have money problems, they have a value creation problem. If the principle that money follows value is true, then it is a simple concept to understand that if you can find a way to increase value in what you have to offer, then the dollars will follow. This is especially true in network marketing.

It’s simple think of it as another form of social networking and you are most likely already doing it.

In this type of marketing you share information and develop personal and professional contacts. You are rewarded for sharing information that results in product sales. Network Marketing empowers you to build your own networking sales organization from your personal and professional contacts, which also empowers everyone to do the same, creating exponential growth of your network. You can earn income from the successful efforts of your network of business associates. Unlike conventional corporations with one chief executive at the top, in Network Marketing everyone is the CEO of his or her own independent organization.

Did you know 92% of people go online to look for information? So in the scenario of network marketing prospects, people primarily go online not to spend money, but rather to save or make money.

There is a small group of top earners who build big fast because they have been in Network marketing for 15-25 years and they recruit from a rolodex of top proven Networkers. They do not make a list of friends and family and they do not buy leads like they teach all of us to do. There are the very few occasions ( very very few ) that someone actually lucks out and recruits someone who builds their entire downline. This happens as much as you win the power lotto. Yikes!

Now I know some of you are thinking of yourself or someone you know that has built a decent group and used the old techniques to build. Let me share real quick just one story I know of that should open your mind to a proven business principal used by all fortune 500 companies.
