If you are looking to save a few extra bucks at the grocery store and have some fun at the same time, then I can think of no better activity than planting a vegetable garden. It might seem on the surface like a lot of work, but with some of the techniques and tips I am about to give you, you will have no problems, or at least keep them to a minimum.

Gardening is a great activity, especially if you have kids and get them involved. Some of the special moments I had with my own father came when he was teaching me how to plant and nurture his own vegetable garden. Now with children of my own I plan on doing the same.

Gardening wouldn’t be possible without air, sunlight, water and nutrients for plant life to feed from. These are the essential elements needed to have a thriving garden. Whether it be for vegetables, flowers, fruits or herbs, nature can supply us with all of these elements naturally as long as we let it.

Organic gardening is away of letting this happen. It is a method that involves growing a garden in harmony with nature by supplying the natural elements needed to your garden as nature does in our forests, field and meadows. Nature doesn’t use chemicals to feed plant life, it creates all the nutrients needed for plants to thrive naturally.

Weed Control in Home Gardens – Chemical Weed Control

Chemical Weed Control Chemicals (herbicides) are only occasionally used by home gardeners to control weeds because suitable herbicides are seldom legally available in small, economical amounts.

Gardening

There are also several other difficulties with the use of herbicides by home gardeners. Many herbicides are nonselective and will kill the vegetables, as well as the weeds. Others are selective and can be used only with certain vegetables or control only certain weeds. Home gardens generally contain many vegetable and weed species, which makes using selective herbicides difficult. Some herbicides may also damage nearby vegetables or remain in the soil and damage future plantings.

One of the most important things that you need to consider when gardening would be the soil you are using and its alkalinity or acidity or its pH. Soil pH is generally measured using a scale of 1 through 14, with 7 being the neutral mark. If the soil is below 7, it is considered acidic and if it is above 7, it is alkaline.

Soil pH basically serves as a gauge or measurement of the soil’s hydrogen-ion concentration. It is important to know this as there are some nutrients which could only be accessed by plant if the soil pH is suitable for its growth. Soil pH can be determined using home testing kits or through sending samples to laboratories which provide such services.

Growing vegetables in a geodesic dome greenhouse isn’t difficult. In fact it can be down right inspiring and addicting. Learning how to grow your own healthy food, being in control of what goes onto the food that ends up on your family’s plate.

Picking the best spot for your dome greenhouse is easy. Because of it’s round shape it doesn’t have a long and short site or a “peak” to worry about. Of course you’ll want to be sure not to put it where a building or tree will shade it. So just place it in a sunny spot and you’re good to go.

Need container gardening ideas about which season is best for beginning gardeners? What plants to use? Easy design tips for just starting out? Which are really the essential tools you’ll need? Consider this your beginner gardening guide.

My first great idea if you’re just beginning gardening is an easy one-Start Simple! Though you can fill your flower pots in any season and any way you chose, my best advice is to follow these tips:

The Right Season: Start your container garden in a season where there are lots of flowers to choose from, and ones that are easy to grow. For most of us, that’s spring and summer annuals.

Aeroponic indoor gardening is a great way for a home gardener, beginner or experienced, to garden through the winter months in areas with climate conditions that limit there growing season, or when limited space is a problem. Plants, flower, herb or vegetable, grown by organic methods are a very rewarding method of gardening. Gardening naturally and in harmony with nature, not only can produce thriving crops, it also has a big impact on improving the health of our environment.

Healthy and environment friendly makes this method a great choice for indoors. Size is another great feature, this method can be small enough to produce crops on your kitchen counter without interrupting space you need for your everyday needs. Herbs and crops for salad that you use for your everyday kitchen needs can be grown fresh, along with being readily available for you need them the most.

Container vegetable gardening is a great concept that will help people to do gardening even if they have a space constraint in their houses. Especially, those who live in apartments and condos will definitely find this concept highly useful. The best thing about this gardening is that you can have this garden anywhere inside your home. The only point you should ensure is to have a good ventilation and sunlight in the place you choose. The place should also be comfortable to work in.

The plumeria is a beautiful plant whose flowers are put into the Hawaiian leis. It is also known as the Frangipani or the Lei flower. It doesn’t only grow in Hawaii though; you can grow it at your own home!

The plumeria is native to tropical areas of the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands, South America and Mexico. When they are grown in these tropical regions, they can become thirty to forty feet tall and half as wide! If grown in other areas, however, they will usually only grow to be large shrubs or sometimes small trees. The branches of this plant are spaced quite widely and are round or pointed. The leaves grow in clusters by the branch’s tips.
